God is Writing Hayes’ Story

On May 31, Hayes’ life changed in an instant after a near-drowning accident. What followed were days, weeks, and countless prayers as he fought for his life in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). For five long weeks, his family stood faithfully by his side, trusting God through every setback, every small victory, and every uncertain moment.

Today, Hayes continues his fight at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation hospitals. He participates in intensive therapy Monday through Saturday from 8:00am to 3:00pm, working incredibly hard each day to regain strength, relearn skills, and continue making progress.

While Hayes focuses on healing, his entire family has temporarily relocated to Chicago to be with him every step of the way. His dad, Joe, has had to step away from fully operating his business so he can be where he is needed most- with his son.

On August 12, Hayes will celebrate his third birthday. This birthday looks different than anyone imagined, but it also represents something extraordinary: another year of life, another reason to celebrate, and another reminder that God is still writing Hayes’ story.
